Richard Rogers first heard theater music at the age of two. In those days, people bought sheets of music from shows in the way we buy tapes and records. Rodger’s mother played the tune on the piano. She and her husband sang along. These concerts took place for many years. It wasn’t long before Richard learned the words to all the songs. At four, he was picking out notes on the piano to fit the song. At six, he taught himself to play with both hands. His interest in music delighted his parents. He began piano lessons at once. Later he saw musical shows whenever he could scrape together the price of a ticket. Soon he began writing music. His parent urged him to pursue it as a career. As an adult, he became a famous composer of show tunes. Among his scores are South Pacific and The Sound of Music.

Other species have spot that are kind of blotchy. This means the spots are not set off from each other as clearly. These are only two of many kinds of spots. The pattern of a giraffes' spots is called "marking'. No two giraffes have exactly the same marking.
Giraffe's spots help them to blend in with their surroundings in Africa where they live. Being able to blend with surroundings help animals survive. If a lion can't see a giraffe, he certainly can't eat it. This is called 'protective coloration'. The animal's colour helps to protect it.
Another thing that protect giraffes is their keen eyesight. Their large eyes are on the sides of their heads. Girafes see anything that moves. They can see another animal a mile away. It is very hard to sneak up on a giraffe. Those who try usually get a quick kick with a powerful back leg.

Dinosaurs were a type of lizards. They lived from about 230 million to about 65 million years ago. In 1842, Sir Richard Owen created the word dinosaur. It came from Greek words deinos, meaning “terrible” and sauros, meaning “lizard”. Dinosaurs lived on earth for about 140 million years.
During the dinosaurian era, the days were short. The sun was not as hot as it is today. On earth there was only one big continent and one big ocean. The name of the continent was pangea (all lands) and the name of the ocean was panthallassa (all seas).
There were many kinds of dinosaurs. Some of them were very big and some others were small. Some dinosaurs ate leaves and some others ate meat. Some dinosaurs could fly.
What happened to dinosaurs? Dinosaurs became extinct because there was a large comet hitting the earth. The comet caused fire and it killed the trees. Dinosaurs could not eat because there were no trees on earth and finally they died and became extinct.

Coffee Crumb Cake

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar
½ cup butter at room temperature
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ cup chopped nuts (I use pecans)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup brown sugar
⅓ cup whole cranberry sauce (see photo)
1 Angel food cake pan (see photo)

Cream together the butter and sugar then add the eggs, sour cream and vanilla.

Add the flour, baking powder and baking soda and combine. This
mixture will get a little heavy, so break out a mixer or a strong spoon to stir with. Combine well.

Next, pour only about 1/3 of the batter into the very well greased angel food cake pan. Sprinkle ½ of the nuts, cinnamon and brown sugar into the pan on top of the batter you just poured. Then add about ½ of the cranberry sauce too, in very small amounts, but be careful. If you put in too much cranberry sauce at this point the cake will be too mushy. This will make a nice delicious center of the cake. After all this then pour in all the rest of the batter then top it all off with all the rest of the nuts, cinnamon, brown sugar and cranberry sauce.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes and enjoy!

Generally, arachnids are predators but the ticks and some mites are parasites.
There are three groups (suborders) of spiders: (1) the rare liphistiomorphs (‘fossil’ trap-door spiders); (2) the mygalomorps (trap-door spiders, pursue-web spiders and tarantulas); and (3) the araneomorphs, or true spiders which are typical and most numerous kinds.

Soal: 245
Lee Soon-Yong was happy. He was going to see his mother, Eun-Mi, for the first time in 50 years. Mr. Lee lived in North Korea, and his mother lived in South Korea. Mr. Lee grew up with his family in South Korea. In 1950 he went to work in North Korea. That year a war started between North and South Korea. Mr. Lee was on the north side of the border and could not go home.
For 50 years, no one could travel between North and South Korea. Mr. Lee missed his family. He got married and had two children in North Korea. He wanted to see his parents again. But as he got older he lost hope.
Then in 2000, the governments of North and South Korea let some families meet in the South Korean capital of Seoul. There were many rules for the reunion. For one thing, the North Koreans could stay in South Korea for only four days. They could see their families only in the Sheraton Walker Hill Hotel or the Convention and Exhibition Center.
On August 16th Mr. Lee went to Seoul. His wife and children could not go with him, so he took their photographs. Mr. Lee’s father and brother were dead but his mother was alive. Mr. Lee was excited to see her.
When he got to the Sheraton Hotel in Seoul, Mr. Lee saw other people run to their families. Brothers and sisters hugged each other for the first time in 5o years. Everyone was laughing and crying.
Mr. Lee’s mother wasn’t there. A South Korean government worker met him that his mother was too sick to come to the hotel. She was in a hospital 30miles from Seoul.
Mr. Lee asked the worker to take him to the hospital. The worker said he couldn’t do that. Two days passed. Mr. Lee was very sad. A reported saw him sitting outside the hotel.
“Why do you look so sad?” the reporter asked.
Mr. Lee told the reporter his problem. That night the reporter told Mr. Lee’s story on TV. Luckily, the President of South Korea was watching TV that night. When President Kim Dae-Jung heard Mr. Lee’s story, he called some North Korean officials. The two countries agreed to change the rules for Mr. Lee.
The next day Mr. Lee went to his mother’s hospital room. When he walked in, she did not know him.
“Mother!” he cried.
“Mother, it’s me! It’s Soon Yong”.

Redfeathers, the hen, was so called because all her feathers were red. One day, the fox caught sight of her in the farmyard and his mouth began to water.
He ran home and told his wife to put on water for boiling a chicken, and then he rushed back, and before Redfeathers knew what was happening, she found herself napped up and inside a sack and not even able to call for help.
Luckily for her, her friend the dove saw what had happened. She fluttered on the path in the woods, and lay there, pretending to have a broken wing. The fox was delighted to find that he now had a first course as well as the main dish. He put down the sack with the hen in it and chased off after the dove, who began cleverly to hop further and further away.
Redfeathers slipped out of the sack and put a stone in her place, then she too ran off. When the dove saw that her friend was safe, she flew up into a tree. The fox then went back and picked up the sack, thinking that the hen was still in it. When he got home, the fox tipped the sack into the pot of boiling water, but the stone splashed it all over him, and he burned his greedy paws.
